String Quartet No 1: Astral is what I consider to be my "opus 1" - that is, the earliest work of mine that I choose to include in my complete list of works. As the subtitle suggests, each movement title is derived from a reference to the stars. I chose to include this work, even though it is really a young work by most standards, because its simply too cool for me not to include.
